Why make a zine for Alexander/ Hephaestion:
Well, I love Alexander and the pairing between him and our dark beauty so I wish to preserve this love for all the years to come. A good way to do it is to do a zine with them.

What is a zine:
A zine is a hardcover fanfiction collection. It reads like a paperback novel. It will have a colour, interial artwork and stories from various authors. The cost of a zine is to cover the printing and shipping of the zine and is normally anywhere between 20-40 US Dollars depending on where you wish it shipped to and how thick the zine is and how much colour art is in it. No one makes money off a zine and the press and me, who organized all this, has a high risk of actually losing money on it as we don't get compensated for time and trib copies.

How did zines get started:
Back in the 1960s people wanted to share fanfic and fanart and they didn't have the Internet to do it. The first zines were Star Trek zines and I even think they were slash zines (Kirk/Spock who are also said to have coined the word slash).

Is there a legal issue:
Zines are as legal or illegal as fanfic on the net or fan webpages or fan vids or fanart or...you get the picture ;)

What standards does a zine have:
Since a zine has to be brought to cover basic expenses to make it then the art and fics in a zine needs to be of high quality; otherwise people don't want to buy it.

You Strike Me Still - an Alexander/Hephaestion slash anthology, based on the movie "Alexander". 291 pages, full-sized zine with a wide variety of stories which run the gamut from AU, war, angst, romance, and more. Six pieces of colour art as well as b/w art is inside the zine, with a colour cover from Barbara. Other artists represented in the zine are Lodewijk, Loki, Sal, and Teamane.
Alexander the Great lived in a violent time and the stories in this anthology reflect that. While some of the stories have happy endings, others demonstrate the tragedy of the time period and Alexander's life.
