Our story
Here you'll find a short history on Alexander and Hephaestion from the movie only! Alexander was born in Pella, Macedonia in 356 BC by Olympia and Philip, the king of Macedonia. His parents hate each other and his mother tries to raise him so he will avenge her. Olympia, his mother, suffers from paranoid delusions and a deep hate for men and tries to pass this onto her son. He in return becomes suspicious of all females, thinking none of them can be trusted like his mother can’t.
(On a sidenote then his mother has a really disturbing love for snakes!)

Aristotle become Alexander's teacher when he's around 8 or 9. At this time he meets Hephaestion, a rich nobleman who is also raised at the palace.

Sometime during their shared childhood Alexander and Hephaestion become the closest of friends and thereafter lovers.

When Philip is murdered (maybe by a man who was/used to be his lover but in any case most likely aided by Alexander's mother) then Alexander become king of Macedonia. He's around 18. Alexander soon therefore starts his war. He defeats Persia, Hephaestion at his side. After the battle the two of them talk about their love and loyality to each other.

Hephaestion has business to do in Egypt for Alexander while Alexander himself moves towards India. Hephaestion comes back to lead Alexander's army and at his wedding to Alexander's first wife Hephaestion gives Alexander a red ring from Egypt as a sign of his eternal love.

Alexander starts to loose his men's support in India but Hephaestion stands by him all the way.

Alexander starts to fight the same paranoid delusions his mother suffered from.

When Alexander is wounded (as are Hephaestion) then Alexander finally returns from India.

Back in Babylon where Alexander has placed his HQ, he marries two more women, wishing to have a son.

Hephaestion falls ill shortly before Alexander turns 33. Alexander sits by his bedside, talking about how they will be together forever and see their sons grow up together.

Hephaestion dies from the illness; Alexander cries and kills the doctor.

Alexander accuses his first wife of slaining his lover. She denies it. She also claims to be carrying his baby.

Alexander loses the will to live and his grip on his sanity is slipping as well.

At a feast shortly after he turned 33 Alexander falls ill (by poison or illness no one knows).

Alexander never recovers and dies without having said who should follow him as leader of his Empire.

His last act is reaching the red ring Hephaestion gave him up towards the sun/an eagle.

As the movie ends Aristotle will be shown keeping the ring as a reminder of the love and greatness that was Alexander.
