 About Srinagar: The summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, Srinagar is the city of lakes. One of the loveliest areas of the country, it nestles in the heart of the beautiful Kashmir Valley. Srinagar is also the take-off point for some of Kashmir's hill stations and a base for a variety of activities that range from trekking and mountaineering to fishing, golf and skiing. The famous huge wooden Jama Masjid mosque was originally built in 1674. Over 300 pillars, each made of a single deodar tree trunk, support its roof.
How to reach :Connected by rail and road to all parts of the country. Jammu is the nearest railhead (293 kms). Srinagar is linked by air to Delhi (876 kms), Jammu, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Mumbai. It is connected by road to Jammu, Leh, Kargil, Gulmarg, Pahalgaum and to all parts of the State. Best time to visit :April to October.
