 About Kovalam: Kovalam is situated 16 kms to the south of Thiruvananthapuram. It is a traditional fishing village and a renowned beach destination with lovely palm-fringed beaches having excellent opportunities for water sports, cruising, meditation, yoga and Ayurvedic body massages. The Ayurvedic centers in and around Kovalam offer treatments for various disorders like insomnia, rheumatism, osteoarthritis, etc. On weekends cultural programs involving music and dance are sometimes performed on the beach. To the southern side is the Lighthouse beach, most popular of all the beaches. Other beaches close to Kovalam beach are Pulinkudi and Chowara, 8 kms to the south and Samudra Beach, 4 kms to the north. Several travel agencies also organize tours in the backwaters as well as elephant camps, etc.
How to reach :The nearest railhead, airhead and bus station are at Thiruvananthapuram which is well connected to other major cities of the country.
