Ajmer

About Ajmer: Mughal Emperor Akbar built a palace here in 1570. Ajmer was once the stronghold of Chauhans till 1194 AD. The legendary Prithvi Raj Chauhan was born here and fought valorously against Muhammad Ghori's army. After the defeat of Prithvi Raj Chauhan Ajmer became a part of Delhi Sultanate. In the mid 15th century AD, for some time Rana Kumbha established Rajput rule here. Akbar annexed it in 1558 AD. After a treaty with Daulat Rao Scindia, the Maratha Chief, the British finally annexed Ajmer in 1818.
How to reach :Main railway junctions are Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Kota, Sawai Madhopur and Bharatpur. Located 132 kms west of Jaipur, in a valley encircled by the Aravalli Hills.
Best time to visit :September to February.

Adhai din ka Jhopra

Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhopra : The mosque was originally an ancient Sanskrit college within a temple enclosure. Mohammad Ghori destroyed the college in 1193 AD & built this mosque.


Dargah Sharif

The Dargah Sharif : The shrine of the Sufi mystic Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (1142-1236 AD). The Urs Mela of the saint attracts pilgrims of all faiths from all over the country &people from abroad.
