Hades wanted to rule Olympus and was told only Herc could stop him so he tried to kill him as a baby but only made him mortal and he kept his Godly strength. He grew up with loving parents but felt alone. Not much is known of Meg. We know that when her boyfriend died, Hades, God of the Dead and the Underworld, gave her a choice: If she sold her soul to him, her boyfriend would live. She accepted the deal but as soon as her boyfriend was up and running again he left her for another woman. Meg didn't believe in love after that. |

She's the daughter of the thief of the tribe. We no little of John but he has sailed many places but before he met Pocahontas he has never expanded his horizon. He thought that stealing land from the natives was ok but after he met Pocahontas he understood how wrong this was and together with Pocahontas tried to make peace between the white settlers and the Natives. |
Is most like: Aida and Radames. Both John and Radames has done wrong things in the past to the people of the woman they love. Both couples end up parted.

Spirituality and open-mindness.
John saved Pocahontas father when one of the white settlers tried to shoot him. He was made a brother of the tribe. He was forced to return to England to heal his wounds and asked Pocahontas to go with him. She tearfully declined and said she had to stay to make sure that the peace was kept. They parted. ( Sniff* So sad. This is my favourite couple and favourite movie of all time!)

Love status: Practically love at first sight. To be allowed to stay together the Gods demanded Herc gave up his immortal strength and Serena her immortality and transformation to the Golden Hind. They did this and still only got a few weeks together before Serena was killed. Herc got his strength back from his father and made a deal with the Fates; His heart for Serena's life. Serena lived again but Herc was denied to be with her. That was the deal for her life. ( Now, that's cruel!)
