A comparison of Scott/Jean with other couples/persons, existing or not. When looking at the X-men movie I only look at the movie and not that excuse for a book that goes with it. Know of any couples you want to see here? What to add information, a couple or quotes? E-mail me! |

Scott Summers and Jean Grey (Movie)
Is most like: Actually no couple I have ever seen. They almost don't express emotions at all. Love status: Well, they are together but as I said they are either very controlled people or live in a relationship where they stay together because they are used to it. Love factor: Don't seem to work. Needs more work and a lot more emotions. ( Or just a good sequel to the movie with more screen time to them both and less with Logan this time, please!) Quote: " Jean?? Nooo!!" - Scott " Jean? Talk to me, please." - Scott " I know where Magneto is going." - Jean
|
Scott Summers and Jean Grey (Comic)
Powers: Jean has the mutant ability of telekinesis and telepathy.
She is extremely powerful in both. Scott can shoot deadly beams from his
eyes but can't control it so he'll blast everything in sight whenever he
opens his eyes and must therefor always wear a ruby red visor.
| ||
Scott Summers and Ororo Monroe
Is most like: Hercules and Serena. Herc and Scott are pure-hearted and kind people who'll give their live for anyone. Serena and Storm are both kind-hearted and both has connections to nature. Also both will probably give up a lot for love (which Serena did) Love status: They seem to fit together. They are very alike. Storm is like a softer, female Scott or a older Rogue. She takes on a lot of responsibility that she need not do and she will be a good leader ( see the comics). Love Factor: Only friendship. However I think they could be so great together. ( see the cartoon, the episode " Days of Future Past". Both Jean and Storm are injured and Scott runs to Storm's aid while Logan carries Jean to safety and she really seems to enjoy being in Logan´s arms. A little too much, if you ask me, when she's supposed to be in love with Scott.) Quote: " By the Goddess Light, Cyclops. It was a near thing " - Storm, after having saved Cyclops. ( comic)
|
Scott Summers and Marie
Is most like: They don't really remind me of any couple. Love status: They seem to fit together. They are very alike. Both has to hide their mutations and can't control them. Both are good-hearted people who can seem a little naive in the world they are living in. Love Factor: Actually they have yet to have a scene together. Quote: They haven't talked together.
Scott Summers & Jubilation Lee
Is most like: They don’t really remind me of any couple. Maybe Rogue and Logan because it’s a younger female to older male relationship. Love status: If you like the Logan/Rogue and Rogue/Scott pairings, you’ll like this one as well. Jubilee is surer of herself, playful and modern than Rogue and maybe that´s what Scott needs. They are an opposites attract pairing with Scott as ice and her as fire. Love Factor: They have never been romantically linked before now. Quote: They have yet to hold a scene together.
Scott Summers and Logan
Scott can shoot deadly beams from his eyes but can't control it and must always wear a visor. Is most like: They don't really remind me of any couple. Love status: They seem to fit together. They are like fire and ice yet they crave the same thing; love and acceptance. If you believe opposites attract believe in this pairing. Love Factor: First they seemed to hate each other and fight over Jean. At the end of the movie they seemed to have reached a understanding. They are friends ( who just ague and disagree a lot. That's no crime) Quote: " Not used t` usin´ these things fer healin´, Doc. But fer these two kids.I´ll try anything once. And so help me.I`ll get it right" Logan to Cecilia about Scott and Jean, when Scott is seriously injured. ( comic) "I'm pretty sure that you have something which belongs to us. We want him back," - Scott to Logan's captures in XM: 7. "There is still a few loose ends, Scott, that only I can tie together and." - Logan to Scott in XM:7 " I do not know what you are up to." - Scott " I'm not asking permission." - Logan " And I'm not giving it. But take care of yourself and yell if you need help" - Scott " Before I became a member of the X-men there wasn't anything I couldn't do alone. It is still so but it is nice to have friends who'll always be there" - Logan " Careful, Logan. Keep it up and I'll get the idea that you actually like us" - Scott, whole exchange from XM:7
| Remy Lebeau and Rogue
Past:
Remy was an orphan but the Leader of the Thief's Guild in New
Orleans took the child in and raised him as his own. Remy became a
great thief. He actually met a de-aged Storm this way. He joined the
X-men who found out that he had helped Sinister during the Morlock
Massacre, not knowing what would happen. Remy bears a great guilt
over his role in the massacre. Rogue is Mystique's foster child. She
was with the Brotherhood of mutants and used her life-sucking powers
on Mrs. Marvel, a superhero. She held on for so long that she
permanently got Carol's ( Mrs. Marvel) powers of flight,
invulnerability, super strength and a six sense of danger. She also
got Carol's memories and personality and was going mad. She came to
Xavier in hopes he would help her, which he did. She joined the
X-men and became a valued member. |

Warren Worthington III and Elisabeth Braddock
Is most like: Hercules and Xena. Both have something in their pasts they aren't happy about and both want to change and help people. Love status: They seem to be a stable couple. Love Factor: I sense true love here! Quote: Don't know any good ones. |
||
| Katherine Pryde and Peter (Piotr) Rasputin Nikovalitch
Is most like: Hercules and Deianeira . Both couples loved each other, in the beginning with a naive innocence. Both are good people. Love status: They seemed to be a stable couple, surviving much hardship. Love Factor: True love that never came to be *sniff*! Quote: "That was some surprise, Katya. I am glad nothing went wrong. I am also very proud of you" - Peter to Kitty after she has shown him that she can make him kind of fly with her through her phasing. " Yeah, I'm pretty darn impressive, aren't I?" - Kitty as they sit next to each other on the floor. " Very" - Peter " Peter.." " Shouldn't we be watering Ororo`s plants? That is why we came up here." - Peter " That can wait a little longer" - Kitty as she moves closer. " You look scared" - Peter " I am scared. I don't care" - Kitty They kiss - From Uncanny x-men 174 |

| STAR WARS | ||
| Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Naberrie (Amidala)
Is most like: None I can think of Love status: Well, Anakin never says he loves her. His love comes across as obsession. Her statement of love is very sudden but I guess it could happen. Love Factor: Could had been great but Anakin’s dark side kept getting in their way. However, they living in a time of war and considering he does save her several times…….there IS most certainly love here though it could be misplaced and most certainly mistimed. However they do have the whole ‘star-crossed lovers/doomed lovers/forbidden lovers’ written all over them Quote: "Are you an Angel?" -Anakin as a child to Padme “I love you” – Padme to Anakin “Don’t go”- Anakin to Padme “I don’t want to disturb you” -Padme “Your presence is smoothing” -Anakin “Just being near her is intoxicating” –Anakin on Padme “I’ve dreamt of her every night for 10 years”- Anakin on Padme “I thought we had agreed not to fall in love because if we do it’ll bestroy us both”- Anakin after Padme has said she loves him “I think we’re about to be destroyed anyway”- Padme as they’re on their way to their execution “Stop the ship! Turn around!” –Anakin as Padme has fallen out of the ship during battle “Our first priority is ending this war. What would Padme have done?” –Ben to Anakin “Done her duty”- Anakin “Obi-Wan is gonna kill me.” –Anakin after having destroyed another of his lightsabres. “What are you doing here?” –Ben to Anakin and Padme “Rescuing you”- Anakin in chains “Good job” -Ben “I’ll be the most powerful Jedi ever!” –Anakin to Padme “I killed them all. And not just the men. I killed the women and children too. They’re like animals and I slaughtered them like animals. I hate them!” –Anakin about his mothers’ attackers “I hate it when he does that”- Ben about Anakin jumping from their ‘car’ in mid-air “You’ll be the death of me”- Ben on Anakin’s indiscretion “Never. You’re the closest to a father I have” –Anakin "I'm haunted by the kiss you never should have given me."- Anakin to Padme * * * Webmistress’ prequel reviews: Warning: If you’re a die-hard Star Wars fan; don’t read this. And remember: Accept and respect others opinions. No flaming for voicing opinions. That’s mean and leads to the dark side *G* On the original 3 movies: I love them, who don’t? They were magical and the cast seemed to get along great. There was action, romance and surprises. On the sequels in general: The 2 I’ve seen so far suffers from several things: predictable which is natural considering they’re prequels. How can you fear for Ben Kenobi’s life when you know he has to live to be in the 3 original movies? The same goes that we know Anakin will turn to the dark side, we know that Padme can’t die till she has born the Skywalker twins and so forth. On Episode 1: The Phantom Menace: Okay, have you seen this? Probably. However, only a ‘die-hard can’t think for myself George Lucas is God’ Star Wars fan can like this. Why? A few reasons: 1) On Naboo they elect their Queens. You can’t elect Queens. The definition of a Queen is someone who inherit the throne through blood right. 2) We follow an 8-year-old wonder boy. Makes me feel like I’m back in grade school. 3) Jar Jar Binks! UGH. Terrible annoying character who only 3 years olds can like (and the die hard fans of course) 4) The before named Queen is 14 year old when Naboo elect her Queen. I wouldn’t trust a 14 year old to remember to pick up her brother on the way home from school, least of all to rule a planet. 5) There is no real action here. The plot feels dead. 6) I quickly got the feeling that any Force strong person is worth more than non-Forceful ones. For example, Qui-Gon Jinn’s buys Anakin’s freedom but his unForceful mother is left in slavery. 7) After mere seconds in the Republic’s Senate, Queen Padme finds the Senate unable to take decisions and finds it unfit to solve her problem and so she travels back to where she comes from, making the movie seem even more pointless than it already is. 8) Things that seem strange is also that Qui-Gon Jinn’s body doesn’t disappear into air when he dies and that suddenly Yoda isn’t Ben’s master as Ben claims more than twice in Empire “Seek out Yoda, the Jedi Master who taught me”, or something like it says Ben to Luke. But whatever, that’s small stuff. 9) One of its greatest flaws is its ‘politics’ or lack thereof. In the opening credits we’re told that the Senate doesn’t work because all they do is talk about stuff instead of doing it, making democracy and peace talks have a dangerous negative vibe to it. 10) The Queen has very loyal servants. One of them plays Queen for more than half the movie, making one wonder what exactly the real Queen is there for. 11) The whole Anakin is Jesus plot. Anakin's mother says Anakin has no father, he was made by the Force or something like it. Add that he's called the Chosen and there you have it; space Jesus. Give me a break. Anakin may be powerful and stuff but a God? Hmm... BUT, point taken as expected the effects are overwhelming as are the images. But thinking rationally, seeing this as any other movie, this is just a very expensive kids movie. General rating to Episode 1: ½ to 1 out of 10 stars (only because human Jedi’s ARE sexy and especially Ben Kenobi *LOL*) On Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones: This is way, way better than episode one. Not that that’s saying much. This is basically a murder mystery set in space with added flavour. However, again, this movie falls flat compared to the earlier 3 original films. A few reasons: 1) This film, like episode 1, lacks a Han Solo character badly. Everything in this film is so serious and up tight. 2) It lacks emotions, like episode 1. A servant girl dies for her Senator and everyone acts like ‘oh, whatever. It’s her duty’. Hmm…… 3) Characters in here sometimes contradict their own words. Like Ben who asks for patience and carefulness from Anakin but still jumps out a building standing 100’s of metres in the air to try and find a droid ship. 4) Though having less screen time (thank GOD!) Jar Jar Binks is still there *shutters*. And C-3PO quickly fills out his place as annoying. On a note C-3PO says ‘Idiot’ to R2-D2; can he do that in a PG movie? Hmm…… 5) Again, the politics are terrible. Suddenly several trade organisations are there and plotting against the Republic. This plotting is so hard to figure out that I’ve given up. To get enjoyment out of this movie one needs to try and ignore everything said about politics. 6) Characters are stereotypes. Either they’re all good; Yoda, Windu, Padme, Kenobi etc or all bad; the later Emperor, Duku and so on. Only Anakin walks the line and we know he’ll fall in the next movie anyway. 7) Lucas’s name thing. The bad guys still have bad names. The later Emperor, I believe, is called “Sinious”- clearly from Sinister and so on. 8) If you try to find logic in the madness of this movie; don’t. All will probably be explained in Episode 3 but so far the Clones’ role are unsure as they end of saving the Republic and also what in the world Duku is doing and why he’s evil is hard to say. 9) This movie was made and written to die hard ‘Star Wars is a religion where George Lucas is God’ people. There’s A LOT of ‘covered’ knowledge like who Bail Organa is. He’s actually in two small shots and has 1 line (wow) but his name is as far as I recall never given so you have to have check the Internet to know whom he is and the same goes for many others. 10) Many things in this story happen for the convenience of the further plot; Anakin has been apart from his mother in 10 years and suddenly HAS to see her at once. Of course he finds her gone but just exactly manages to hold his mother in his arms as she dies; giving him the reason to turn to the dark side. Also, though both actors are great and the dialog is as much Harlequin as possible, the romance between Padme and Anakin never succeeds to take flight and you get the feeling they’re falling in love to get those damn kids and then be done with it. Padme’s sudden ‘I love you’ comes without before warning and the wedding in the ending is very sudden, especially as last they spoke about even dating they found it best not to. Too bad as their romance did have a lot of potential. The romance here is also spoiled by Anakin’s moments of rage or hate with no reason for them. Especially does his complains about Ben Kenobi seem forced. One minute he says he thinks him as a father and the next he’s not sure if he wants to go help Padme save him. 11) The fight between Duku and Yoda. This was only laughable. A puppet flying and fighting?! Only die-hard Star Wars fans can take *that* serious. BUT, point taken as expected the effects are overwhelming as are the images. This is an all right action movie set in space. General rating to Episode 2: 5 out of 10 stars (because the images are great, the human Jedis are still sexy (go Ben and Anakin!), Anakin is not a whinny kid any more YEAH; in fact Anakin saves the whole movie with daring to speak up, a few funny lines, great acting and next to constant disobedience, and as a woman, granted, the romance between Anakin and Padme IS sweet and…..yeah, the impression is still overwhelming. Worth watching at the movies and buying on video but no more so than so many other movies. Episode 3 will be interesting and to me it looks like Lucas, like in Jedi, will have a lot of work to do as many storylines has to be combined; for starters Anakin’s fall is far from clear, the Clone War has just began and there are Jedis (besides Ben and Yoda) still breathing that we all know has to die. In summery: Episode 1: Not worth a mentioning. Episode 2: Okay movie. Very long but all right. Careful though that small children can be confused by dead characters resurrecting (like Owen and Beru Lars). Maybe Episode 3 will be the best of them all……. |

| Han Solo and Princess Leia
Love status: A proof that opposites attract. Like with most so different couples one has to give up more than the other if they are to stay together and Han gives up the stars for Leia and stays at the Capital World with her in the middle of the biggest diplomatic mess ever written, even though Han hates politicians and authorities. ( A tray he shares with Logan) Love Factor: True love! Quote: " I love you" -Leia, when Han is about to be put into carbonite. " I know" - Han |
||
Is most like: Herc and Meg. Herc and Luke are both pure-hearted and do good kind of people while Meg and Mara has a past with their men's worst enemy and has worked for him, and tried to kill our heroes ( directly or indirectly.) Love status: Rocky in the beginning. Opposites attract. Love Factor: True love here! Quote: " I wanted to kill you for a long time." -Mara " Why?" -Luke " When I first met Luke, I was under a compulsion to kill him. Generally not a good sign for a lasting relationship. Such was his courage that he did not run, and did not strike me. He accepted me, as no one else had done before," Mara, at her and Luke's Jedi ceremony. "There was a sense to Mara, when I met her that would not let me fear her.though countless others have Learned that not fearing her can be trouble. The force brought us together and kept bringing us together Until..neither of us could deny our destiny to be together forever." - Luke at the Jedi ceremony "You can banish all my nightmares, Mara. A kiss, a smile. Just by being here" -Luke, after their wedding " Master Skywalker, are you becoming a romantic?" - Mara "No, Mara, a husband with a wife who inspires him." - Luke "That's something I hope to do for the rest of our lives, Luke, together and forever." - Mara "Together there is nothing that could defeat us." - Mara " This will be forever, Mara." - Luke "Ever and always, Luke" - Mara "I love you, Mara and I'm so glad I found you" - Luke "I love you too, Luke and remember, I found you." - Mara |
