If you have visited my "Quotes" section as well as the "gallery" you'll find that I have a great fondness for the "Age Of Apocalypse" or just AoA for short. There is several reasons of this. One of them is that I find it fascinating to see other and new sides to known characters. People who in normal comics are "bad" turn good and people who are normally "good" turn "bad". Scott's change was very drastic but I liked it. He kept many of his traits but the big difference was that he was working AGAINST the X-men. In other words; he is one of the "bad" guys. And then again; a hero's heart is never to be underestimated.
Some may wonder what the AoA IS.
Well, I`ll try and explain it to you. I`ll include all the most important facts here but focus on Scott's history.



The setting: This story is set in a alternative timeline and tells the tale of what would happen if Charles Xavier had been killed before he formed the X-men. The main story takes place in Manhattan which is Apocalypse's capital.

After Xavier´s murder a war breaks out between humans and mutants. The human race looses and Apocalypse raises to power. He have a " only the strong survives" policy and that means that all humans are considered lower beings as are some mutants. Apocalypse is surrounded by an elite, the best of the mutant race, the ones judged "worthy" and they live like royalty while the rest of America looks like a warzone from "Escape from New York"

A man with a dream fights Apocalypse. This man is Erik Magnus Lensherr also called Magneto. He leans the band of mutants called the X-men against Apocalypse. By his side stands Rogue who are later to be his wife. Rogue absorbs most of Polaris power of Magnetism and she and Erik can touch skin to skin. They have a son together called Charles who, for some reason, Rogue can NOT touch.

As a part of his rebel force also stands Peter, called Colossus, who is married to Kitty, called Shadowcat. Further more is Sabretooth who rescued a young elf looking beautiful, sweet girl called Blink. They have a strong relationship and care deeply for each other.

Victor learned Blink a lot and he always looked after her. When Victor was tortured to death, Blink returned to avenge him.

With the X-men also fights Ororo, called Storm who is in love with Quicksilver, Magneto's son. Also with him is Logan, Weapon X, and his lover; Jean Grey.

That was the rebels side. On Apocalypse's side stands Sinister among others. He is the surrogate father of the two Summers brothers; Scott Summers and Alex Summers. They grow up together under Sinister´s watchful eye and become great fighters; though Scott is better than Alex which annoys Alex very much.
Scott is made leader of the prelates under Sinister. Scott's people count, among others; Alex Summers, Sam ( Cannonball), the Bedlam Brothers and the twins Northstar and Aurora.

Jean Grey is taken prisoner and taken to the Apocalypse's slave pens which Scott Summers control. He sees her and he get intrigued by her. Logan comes to rescue his love and he and Scott fight. Logan looses a hand to Scott while Scott loses an eye to Logan. Logan and Jean gets away.
Later Scott and Alex met their father again; Christopher Summers. Unfortunately they also learn that their father was taken prisoner by the Shi`ar, an alien race, along with their mother. Their mother was tortured to death but Christopher lead an rebellion and got out. But he was infected, like the Shi´ar with the Brood, an parasite like alien race. Wanting to see his children again Christopher fought the evil within and came to Earth. On Earth he was taken to Apocalypse's slave pens and experimented on. Scott confronts Sinister with this and Sinister explains that he wanted to cure their father before he infected all of Earth with the parasite brood. Christopher is unable to hold the brood down and asks Scott to help him. Scott is forced to kill his own father. Alex is devastated and vows to get even with Scott for it.

While fighting against Death, one of Apocalypse's horsemen who have gotten delusions of grandeur and wants to kill Apocalypse, Scott meets Blink. Together with the sweet, young girl Scott saves the captured X-men Death holds at his stronghold and frees Sunfire. Death is destroyed and Erik and the others return safely home but they are left to wonder why Scott helped them.

At this time Scott begins to doubt his teachings as he sees the cruelty around him. He remembers Jean and begins in secret to free prisoners.
The Midwest of America is bombed by atomic bombs. The war races on. Sinister disappears and makes Nate Grey, called X-man from Scott's and Jean's DNA to defeat Apocalypse. Scott becomes ranking prelate and Apocalypse wants Scott to become his horseman in Sinister`s place when the time comes.
Remy, called Gambit, is an X-man who is very much in love with Rogue. Seeing her with his best friend is too much for him and he leaves the X-men to make his own group; becoming the modern..or rather futuristic version of Robin Hood.

In the exclusive club, Heaven, owned by Warren, called Angel because of his mutation of wings, Alex complaints about his brother to his lover, Scarlett, a human, not knowing she works for the Human Council with their main base in England. However Warren sells to both sides and is aware of Scarlett´s loyalties. Scarlett is discovered to be working with the Council and she pleas for Alex to spare her as she reviles that she is pregnant with his child. Alex fears Apocalypse's penalty for interspecies breed.
After Scarlett´s imprisonment, Angel is going to be arrested. He escapes and decides it is time to take a stand. He goes up against Apocalypse's stronghold and takes out the force shield generator. His sacrifice is what allows Nate Grey to help Magneto against Apocalypse.


An Angel of appearance, a mercenary of heart. Only love could make him change…..but by then it was too late.


Scott frees a prisoner from the pens in disguise as Magneto but another prisoner, Polaris, may have seen him. Alex makes the Dark Beast, a cruel scientist who loves to torture people, "play" with her. Scott stops this. Later Scott comes and frees Polaris. They fight against and kill Northstar and Aurora. But Alex have seen that it is Scott who frees the prisoners. Alex confronts Scott with this info but Scott denies all. Alex then shows him that they have captured Jean again. Alex tells Scott to kill Jean to prove his loyalties. Scott can't do that and he is taken prisoner and tortured along with Jean.
Jean breaks the mental hold around her mind and with her telekinesis lifts Scott's visor off. Scott shoots Dark Beast and Scott and Jean escape. On their way they free all the prisoners and they guide them towards freedom. Alex vows to find and kill his brother.

Apocalypse fires off nuclear bombs at Manhattan. Jean feels them and makes a telekinetic shield against them. Alex spots Jean and Scott and promptly kills Jean. Consumed with sadness and anger Scott is painfully killed by his brother. Having seen his lover go down, Logan kills Alex. As the world is to end, Logan sits alone by Jean's dead body, Scott's body laying as a shield over Jean's.
On the X-men front; Magneto fights against Apocalypse. With Nate Grey's help, Magneto kills Apocalypse. Destiny, one of Magneto's X-men, sees that there may be a way to stop the reality of Xavier`s death from occurring and things to "return to normal". She wants Peter's sister, Illyana, to help her but admits that in the other reality neither her nor Illyana have counterparts. In short if Xavier is saved; Peter's sister must die. Peter doesn't want this to happen and blinded with fear for his sister he doesn't see his wife as she moves to stop his way to his sister. Peter kills Kitty as she doesn't phase in her blind faith in her husband. Consumed by grief Peter breaks down. Gambit puts Peter out of his misery and Illyana, Destiny and Bishop, the time travelling mutant, tries to go back in time to save Xavier.
As the bombs come closer to Earth, Magneto goes to Rogue and with his arms around his wife and their son close by, they watches the world end. Together.
